Giving Thanks

I hope you've left some room to feast your eyes on the beauty that is the World Map. Just like a Thanksgiving dinner, you've gotta let this settle before you do much else.
Welcome to the world of Monster Hunter!

Based on the map from the Illustration Book, and the data Bobofango's translated, I've pieced together a possible World Map.
For a more in-depth look:
-Towns: 24
-Zones: 36
-Small Monsters: 40
-Large Monsters: 122
Those numbers may change, but as it stands they seem very solid.
Of course, none of this would be possible without CAPCOM's resources or the wonderful MonHun Fanbase.

New Member: DicloniusAnimeX

So earlier today a few of my messages were answered. In one case, I was able to use someone else's music for the Title screen, so thanks for that "MrAquamentus". Among another message, someone's able to make more music and also some art. That person is choosing to go by the name "DicloniusAnimeX". So far from what I've heard of his 8-bit music, he's going to be an amazing asset. He's also designed the title screen in about 35 minutes, and it looks outstanding!

Hopefully together we can cut off some time it takes to get to a final release and make the community happy.

Surprise Menu Post

So after getting the Icons out of the way, I was able to import them and customize a whole new text window based on MHP3rd. I'm also unsure if the Aptonoth will keep that image, or even what I'm going to do with Monsters during battle. The menu and the icons look amazing though, I'm actually starting to feel proud of myself. But it's too early to celebrate.
The Playtest is really addicting and after slaying my first Velocidrome, I'm glad to say that this still has the difficulty of MH, as well as the adrenaline-boosting payout. This may turn out to be a great fan game after all!

Icon Set

So someone suggested I post the icons I've made.
All of these are hand-sprited by myself, using the games as a reference. There are a few custom icons in here that I made myself to fill up gaps and pose relevance in the story. Hopefully I won't need to edit these too much, but if someone points out an error, I'll fix it immediately.

Beta Demo

So I've been working nearly non-stop since I started this project. There's a chance of a small beta demo releasing before X-Mas. Hopefully this demo will introduce the player to the mechanics, a few locations (hunting zones and towns), and the beginning of the story (which has been thought over and for the most part complete).
I'm not sure what you guys want to see for Blog Posts either (I've been posting towns to try to get feedback), so please leave a comment if you'd like to see something.
Anyways, keep an eye out for a demo, or something else interesting.

Possible Jumbo?

So I've never actually seen Jumbo outside of a couple screenshots. I'm going too need your opinion in order to get this right. Here's my rendition of Jumbo based on a top-down image my friend took for me.
As with Kokoto, there are no people yet, and some of the graphics/tiles can be changed at any time. Leave a comment on what could/should be changed, and I'll get to it as fast as I can. I don't want to slack on the main locations that are already made.

Early Kokoto Build

So here's Kokoto, your starting village and potentially the first town brought to life in Monster Hunter.
This is just a quick first draft, but so far I kinda like it. There are no people yet because I'm in the process of trying to make their sprites.
It'd be really nice to get some feedback, and sadly I don't have any Cherry Blossom sprites to work with; although if there's demand for it, I'll make 'em. The farm is also blocked off for story progression, as one of the points in the storyline calls for it to be so.

A Formal Introduction

Hello everyone.
I've decided to show my love to the Monster Hunter series by making a fan-game. This fan-game is going to be free for everyone when it's complete & in no way meant as a way to gain profit. Just about everything in the game belongs to CAPCOM in some way, the custom art will be made by fans based on CAPCOM's original design concepts.
This fan-game, as the name suggests, will be a standard 32-bit turn-style story-based RPG. This will explore the story behind the world of Monster Hunter, and all of its lore. My main goal is to introduce RPG fans into the Monster Hunter series itself, and let people enjoy the world through a great plot (which is usually the main complaint people have about the main series). I hope to give this game a storyline that long time Hunters can appreciate and give the game good enough mechanics to make this a fan game stand out.
Feel free to comment on any ideas you may have as the game is currently just starting out.
